What To Expect

It will be surprising to discover how a part of medieval Florence lived by Dante still persists today.

Dante as a symbol of the Italian language and an active character in the struggles between The Guelphs and Ghibellines first, and among the Guelphs themselves then, but also Dante as a citizen and uncomfortable opponent in the internal struggles for power in the city. You want to find out with us?

We will be in Piazza Santa Croce right at the foot of the statue of Dante, the only one that portrays him. From here we will leave for our walk to the Palazzo del Bargello 1255 – the first Palazzo del Podestà, which we will enjoy outside. We will then continue to the Badia Fiorentina, the “House of Dante”, the “Church of Beatrice” and the Torre della Castagna – the first seat of the Priors 1259.

Through some narrow streets of the medieval quarter, we will then reach Piazza della Repubblica – the ancient seat of the market. We will then start along Via di Calimala – today shopping street, to arrive in Piazza della Signoria and discover the ancient medieval church frequented by Dante for his political activity. To close in beauty, we will end our journey in the outer courtyard of the Uffizi Gallery. Than a fefreshing aperitif will be waiting for us! The total duration of our tour, walking at a quiet pace, will be about 2 hours. What are you waiting for? Come and discover the Dante’s spirit of Florence with Book Tuscany Experiences!
