WHAT WILL YOU DO

Accompanied by an expert guide you will visit the Archaeological Museum Francesco Nicosia, situated in the charming medieval village of Artimino, which faces the Medici Villa “La Ferdinanda”, a UNESCO heritage site. The museum itinerary is distributed on two levels: the upper floor is dedicated to the “world of the living”, namely the population of the territory, while the lower floor houses testimonies of the “world of the dead” found in the necropolis of Comeana and Artimino.

Of extraordinary value are the oriental grave goods found inside the tombs, including some items that are really unique to the Etruscan and Italian historic heritage, such as a blue glass cup, ivory statues and plaques (some of which decorated with mythical characters), fine censers made of bucchero ware and the reconstruction of a warrior “well tomb” dating between the end of the 8th century and the beginning of 7th century BC. With your guide you will also visit the archaeological area of the Tumulus of Montefortini in Comeana (about 5 kilometres from the museum).

After the guided tour, we recommend a visit to the small village of Artimino and the surrounding area, rich in Etruscan, medieval and Renaissance testimonies immersed in one Tuscany’s finest landscapes.

You may also combine the visit with a wine tasting session at some local wineries.
