What To Expect

The starting point of our Florence walking tour tour will be Piazza Santa Maria Novella, in the immediate vicinity of the railway station, right in front of the front of the church. This Basilica is an authentic jewel of Gothic architecture with the only Renaissance marble facade, masterpiece by Leon Battista Alberti.

A few minutes’ walk, and we will reach Palazzo Strozzi, perfect example of Renaissance architecture, and then continue to Piazza del Duomo where the piers of the Cathedral, the Baptistry and the famous Bell tower of Giotto stand out. Once here, the great Brunelleschi Dome, the Renaissance work par excellence, will certainly not escape the view. Five centuries of history and art in one square!

We will then head towards the River Arno we will cross Piazza della Repubblica and, after crossing the Church of Orsanmichele (old barn of the city), we will arrive in Piazza della Signoria. A true open-air museum composed of the Palazzo della Signoria (Palazzo Vecchio) the Statue of Neptune and the copy of Michelangelo’s David, as well as the characteristic Loggia dei Lanzi. To close in beauty, we will finish our path in the outer courtyard of the Uffizi Gallery.
